John Simm and the cast of the upcoming BBC drama Exile were the latest celebrities to sign up to the One Bolton pledge and support the concept of Bolton as a welcoming and tolerant town.
Filming was taking place for the upcoming drama in Bolton over the weekend at locations including the Town Hall steps and corridors inside the Town Hall. The drama also features well-known actors Shaun Dooley, Olivia Coleman and Timothy Dooley, all of whom were also pleased to sign the pledge alongside John.
The One Bolton pledge celebrates the diversity of the town and says: “We celebrate the diversity of Bolton and unite to create One Bolton, recognising differences, celebrating communities and commit to encouraging harmony.”
The pledge is directly linked to the Big Bolton Fund (BBF) and encourages supporters of One Bolton to pledge money to the fund, which in turn will be used to support local community programmes across the borough.
Other celebrities who have also signed the pledge include famous Boltonians Sara Cox, Amir Khan, Dave Spikey, Paul Heathcote and Laura White.
The pledge can be signed online.
