Mallorca based drama serial, Mad Dogs, nominated for BAFTA

Mad Dogs, the Sky 1 drama filmed in Mallorca in association with Palma Pictures, was nominated yesterday for the BAFTA award for best drama serial. The series, which has an impressive cast including Max Beesley, Philip Glenister, John Simm and Marc Warren, received record viewing figures when it was broadcast this spring.

The Council of Majorca allocated 150,000 Euros to the production of the four part murder drama, an investment that appears to have paid off. The success of Mad Dogs is seen as a breakthrough for Mallorca’s film industry. Set in various locations it also showcases the island and could boost tourist numbers.

Insiders hope the second series will also be filmed on the island although nothing has yet been made official. The ceremony for the 2011 Television Awards will take place in London on 22nd of May.
